Today’s Quote: “You don’t have to go back and deal with childhood issues, because those childhood issues produced a vibration within you that you are still offering — which is producing today issues. You can shift your vibration a whole lot easier when you’re dealing with today issues, than trying to deal with childhood issues. It’s the same vibration. That vibration that was creating childhood issues, now it’s creating today issues. Deal with it in your now. ‘Which thought feels better? Which thought feels better? Which thought feels better?’ ” —Abraham

Double Bell (Egogo) from Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. Made of Ivory.
Double Bell (Egogo) (early 16th cen.) from Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. Made of Ivory.

The double gongs were used by the oba (king) during the Emobo ceremony to drive away evil spirits. The carvings on this gong, one of only 6 known to exist, depicts the oba supported by his military commander and his heir. This is one of the oldest surviving African ivory sculptures.

Figure of a Horn Blower (circa 1504-50) from Benin, Edo State, Nigeria. Made of copper alloy.

This figure most likely stood on an altar dedicated to a deceased oba. His attire indicates that he is a court official and the leopard tooth necklace was only worn by warriors. The horn that the figure once held may have been used for ceremonial purposes.

Review: “Spiritual Warrior” by Swami Krishnapada

blog 5.16.14

My good friend Raycurt gave me this enlightening book many years ago, along with parts two and three. I found there to be many golden nuggets of spiritual truths, messages that I could vibrate with. Many of his suggestions for living a spiritual life are ways of being that I haven’t yet matured into. However, I am growing in each moment and am loving the process. Below are quotes by Swami Krishnapada which I felt were interesting, uplifting, and informative.

Review: “Secret the Power” by Rhonda Byrne

the power post 5.2.14

In 2012, my cubicle neighbor at work and good friend Valerie dropped “Secret the Power” onto my desk. Valerie is the amazing soul that introduced me to Abraham Hicks, New Thought, and the Law of Attraction. She advanced my world view immensely in the several years that we worked together and I will forever have gratitude and love in my heart for this incredible woman. I’d like to share some highlights from the book which I found particular helpful to my spiritual growth.

“You are meant to be victorious! You are meant to be happy! You are meant to have an amazing life!”

"Our time on this earth is sacred, and we should celebrate every moment. The importance of this has been completely forgotten: even religious holidays have been transformed into opportunities to go to the beach or the park or skiing. There are no more rituals. Ordinary actions can no longer be transformed into manifestations of the sacred. We cook and complain that it's a waste of time, when we should be pouring our love into making that food. We work and believe it's a divine curse, when we should be using our skills to bring pleasure and to spread the energy of the Mother." Paulo Coelho

How Reiki Develops Intuition

Transporting my Reiki stuff to a health fair.
Transporting my Reiki stuff to a health fair.

In the summer of 2012, I sat on my floor meditating when a voice seemed to fill the silence. It simply said, very clearly, “Reiki.”  I thought, what? I had heard of Reiki but didn’t know very much about it. I made the decision to listen to the voice and promptly began researching Reiki programs in the area. I found one presenting an open house in the coming weeks and registered. Since that time, I have completed Reiki levels one and two. Besides the obvious health benefit of relaxing the body, the most important lesson that I am learning from this energy healing system, is that of becoming more in tune with intuition and listening to that small inner voice that only has your best interest at heart.

Physical Manifestations of Awakening

blog ascension 3.10.14Many optimistic, spiritually minded people believe that a great change is taking place across the earth.  This change is being hailed as a spiritual awakening or shift in consciousness that will eventually lead to a more peaceful and loving energy on the planet.  Individuals who undergo the ascension process will act to usher in this vibrational change.  One interesting topic that I have seen associated with this theorized awakening, is the idea of “ascension symptoms.”

Ascension symptoms are signs that one is indeed going through the ascension process.  The purpose of the ascension process is to heal from past traumas (from this life time and generationally) and to come to the realization of one’s true nature as a spiritual being.  I believe that as we lose the negative baggage of the past, old-stale-blocked energy is released causing outward physical manifestations.

Want a Happier Life? Ask Questions!

Feeling happy!
Feeling happy!

Hey you busy person! Don’t go another moment without considering all of your selves before making that next decision. That’s right.  All of your selves!  I am referring to your Mental-Self, your Physical-Self, your Spirit-Self, and your Soul-Self.  You are all of these aspects, and each affects your daily life even if you are not aware of it!

When we take time to consider all of the different aspects of our being, we make better choices – whether they be seemingly insignificant decisions or critical life-changing ones.  These better choices lead to less worry, stress, internal anger and disappointment.  In other words, we will live happier lives.

Sunday Church No. 33: Facing the Light

Your joy factor will remain constant as you are continually refining your ideas of what you want, and that's why it is so important for you to get everybody else out of the equation. They've got their own game going on; they don't understand your game. Give them a break; stop asking them what they think. Start paying attention to how you feel. Joy will be yours immediately, and everything else that you have ever thought would make you happy, will start flowing, seemingly effortlessly, into your experience. - Abraham

The most precious gift we can offer others is our presence. When our mindfulness embraces those we love, they will bloom like flowers. If you love someone but rarely make yourself available to him or her, that is not true love. When your beloved is suffering, you need to recognize her suffering, anxiety, and worries, and just by doing that, you already offer some relief. Mindfulness relieves suffering because it is filled with understanding and compassion. When you are really there, showing your loving-kindness and understanding, the energy of the Holy Spirit is in you. - Thich Nhat Hanh from "Living Buddha, Living Christ"

You have sole ownership of your vision. And the Universe will give you what you want within your vision. What happens with most people is that they muddy their vision with "reality". Their vision becomes full of not only what they want but what everybody else thinks about what they want, too. Your work is to clarify and purify your vision so that the vibration that you are offering can then be answered. - Abraham Hicks
